The Meeting between Women Scientists and Entrepreneurs: Breaking Glass Ceilings: Women Scientists, from the Laboratory to Entrepreneurship will take place on 8 February at the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC).
Her Majesty the Queen, Doña Letizia, will attend the meeting organized by the Women and Science group of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM). Isabel Varela-Nieto, President of SEBBM, will participate in the discussion panel.
On the occasion of the International Day of Woman and Girl in Science, the SEBBM, in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Biocompanies (AseBio), the Spanish Association for Cancer Research (ASEICA) and the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCM-CSIC) has organised a meeting between women scientists and entrepreneurs, which will take place on Tuesday 8 February at the MNCN in Madrid, with the participation of relevant women scientists and entrepreneurs of our country.
This event will emphasize the role of women in science, technology and business, highlighting their most outstanding contributions and showing success stories. Women of reference will be presented to encourage other young women researchers and entrepreneurs. Isabel Valera-Nieto, who will speak at the round table, commented: "I ask girls to study and to pursue their professional dreams. We need them to build a better, more democratic, more educated and more balanced society".
This meeting, promoted by the SEBBM Science and Women Group, will be attended by Queen Letizia, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, the Secretary General for Research, Raquel Yotti, and the President of the CSIC, Rosa Menéndez. During the meeting there will be a round table to discuss, among other topics, the measures to be adopted in the field of science and entrepreneurship to achieve the integration of women in all the positions of the scientific career.
