Divulgando con motivo del Día Mundial de la Audición 2022

Online conference to celebrate the World Hearing Day 2022

The online conference "Hearing health for a better quality of life" was held with great success on March 28th. It was the first presentation of the World Hearing Report prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO), which presents alarming data on the prevalence of hearing problems and the estimated increase in the coming decades, especially those forms associated with aging and exposure to noise. This was followed by an interesting discussion on the importance of maintaining good hearing health, avoiding exposure to intense noise, taking care of diet and consulting medical specialists regularly, in order to prevent hearing loss and ensure a better quality of life. Associations of patients with hearing loss, experts in nutrition, as well as clinicians and CIBERER researchers took part in the discussion. To conclude the day, an educational video was presented to sensitize the population on the importance of preserving proper hearing at all stages of life as well as getting access to early diagnosis and treatment of hypoacusis.

The conference, organized by the research group on Neuropathology of Hearing and Myelinopathies of the IIBM in collaboration with the AG Bell International Foundation and with the support of the pharmaceutical company Spiral Therapeutics, was streamed in a accessible way for people with hearing impairment, and is available on the youtube channel HearingMadrid through this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev53Z5CxZHQ
