The Neuropathology of Hearing and Myelinopathies group of the Instituto de Investicaciones Biomédicas Alberto Sols, IIBM (CSIC-UAM) and led by Dr. Isabel Varela Nieto has taken part in the preparation of an informative video on "Prevention and treatment of progressive age-related hearing loss". This event is part of the audiovisual series "Towards a healthy longevity" launched by the Fundación General CSIC (FGCSIC), which includes a series of videos to bring society closer to the latest research in the field of healthy aging.

This informative activity is part of the NITROPROHEAR project, a research project co-funded by the FGCSIC in the framework of the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Project "Program for a Longevity Society PSL" aimed at identifying molecules to prevent or treat hearing loss.

In the video, Dr. Varela Nieto explains the importance of sound in our daily life and shows the research carried out in the context of the NITROPROHEAR project. This work is aimed at finding treatments to prevent age-related hearing loss in order to slow down the process of cognitive fragility in the elderly.
